Civil Society Organizations
Civil society organizations have been instrumental in shaping GAFSP’s direction—helping to secure dedicated funding for farmers’ and producer organizations, guiding the inclusion of climate principles such as agroecology, and ensuring that smallholder perspectives are reflected in decision-making. Through regular regional consultations, civil society and farmer organizations bring field-level realities of agriculture, food security, and resilience into global policy and financing discussions, strengthening both the relevance and the impact of GAFSP’s work.
Civil society is formally represented in GAFSP’s Steering Committee. The three civil society seats on GAFSP’s Steering Committee—representing Africa, Asia, and OECD countries—are currently held by:
